The Shadows fuel pump only runs when the engine is turning over, so if you just turn the key on to test it, it isn't getting any power. Also, there is a safety relay that also controls the pump, used incase the bike is tipped over (in an accident) so the fuel shuts off to eliminate a possible fire. And the Honda doesn't like mud at all. Even on slow and I mean slow. Sorry back on track; I started the bike after a few weeks and found the battery dead. I took off all the cables etc to get to the battery via the seat. In the manual, it says just lift out! Well, sadly the battery doesn't lift out and I can't see how its anchored. The starter button merely triggers a relay by your battery that supplies the big power to your starter. Those relays, or solenoids, can go bad, but then the engine won’t crank at all. If it’s trying to start, then it’s getting power. Honda says 6K for my other bikes (conventional oils), so I change those once per year, too, because we almost never put that many miles on them annually. My cages get pushed longer between oil changes usually 10-15K for those using synthetics, and 6-8K for conventional oils. If they are driven hard, in dirty conditions, pulling loads, etc., EU2Wjwg.
