In2 Timothy 3:15-17, Paul comments on the role the scriptures have played in Timothy’s life and can play in ours as well. He says, beginning with verse 15. 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 17 That the man of God may be perfect

Trueteachers of God's Word were to treat "older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, in all purity" (1 Timothy 5:2). Perhaps this was why 2 John 1:10–11 taught about false teachers: "If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting, for whoever greets him takes part 1Timothy 3:2. Or "an elder", as the Syriac version renders it; not that it can be expected that such an one should be entirely free from sin, or be blameless in the sight of God; but that he should be one, who is so before men, and has not been guilty of any notorious and flagitious crime; and particularly, is not chargeable with the vicesGodlessnessin the Last Days. 1 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4 treacherousIn2 Timothy 1:5 we learn that his faith came to him through his grandmother, Lois, and his mother, Eunice. The Apostle Paul’s preaching may have been used by God to bring Timothy to actual conversion, but behind his preaching were years of godly influence by Timothy’s grandmother and mother.
